Perfection

What does Jesus mean when He says, “Be perfect”?

In this message from Matthew 5:43–48, we wrestle with the tension between God’s call to perfection and our very real human imperfection. This sermon reframes “being good” not as flawless behavior or spiritual performance, but as faithful alignment with God’s design for our lives.

You’ll discover that God’s standard isn’t about comparison, self-effort, or trying to earn holiness. We were created fearfully and wonderfully—on purpose—and true goodness is found in staying within God’s boundaries, choosing His way even when it’s hard. Ultimately, perfection isn’t something we achieve; it’s something we receive through the cross of Jesus Christ.

Through powerful illustrations—like Noah faithfully building the ark before a single drop of rain fell—this message invites us to shift from striving to trusting. Christian living is not about getting it all right, but about walking in obedience, relying on grace, and allowing Christ’s perfection to cover our imperfections.
