Position Overview
The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, coordination, and leading the musical and worship elements of the church services in a way that helps the congregation engage authentically with God. This role works closely with the pastor and ministry teams to create worship experiences that are spiritually uplifting, biblically grounded and aligned with the mission and vision of the church.

Reporting Structure
The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, coordination, and leading the musical and worship elements of the church services in a way that helps the congregation engage authentically with God. This role works closely with the pastor and ministry teams to create worship experiences that are spiritually uplifting, biblically grounded and aligned with the mission and vision of the church.
1. Worship Planning & Leadership
- Lead worship during Sunday services and special events (e.g. religious holidays, communion, baptisms, funerals, worship nights)
- Select songs that reflect a balance of contemporary, traditional, or a blended style based on the church’s worship culture
- Collaborate with the pastor to integrate music with sermons themes and service flow
- Collaborate with Technical & Communications Director on worship sets, transitions, scripture readings , and prayers as appropriate
2. Team Development & Coordination
- Recruit, train, schedule and mentor worship team members (vocalists and musicians)
- Lead regular rehearsals and ensure team members are spiritually and musically equipped
- Foster a positive, encouraging and unified team environment
3. Music & Technical Management
- Collaborate with Technical & Communications Director on audio/visual needs for services held at the church
- Knowledge of modern worship technology such as in-ear monitors, pads, click tracks, and maintenance of instruments
4. Administrative Duties
- Plan weekly and seasonal service elements in coordination with Technical & Communications Director and church leadership
- Manage worship ministry budget alongside the Technical & Communications Director
- Maintain song database, chord charts and licensing compliances (e.g. CCLI)
- Schedule vocalists and band members for each worship service using scheduling software (currently Subsplash)
5. Spiritual Leadership
- Model a lifestyle of worship, prayer, and Christian character
- Encourage spiritual growth among team members
- Support the congregation in developing a deeper understanding and practice of worship
Qualifications
1. Spiritual
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a growing spiritual life
- Agreement with the church’s doctrine, mission and values
- Ability to lead worship with humility, authenticity and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit
2. Musical & Technical
- Strong vocal ability and proficiency in an instrument ( guitar or piano preferred)
- Experience leading congregational worship
- Understanding of worship styles, flow and service planning
- Knowledge of sound systems, worship software and media tools
3. Leadership & Person; Skills
- Strong communication and organizations skills
- Ability to recruit, train and inspire volunteers
- Reliable, responsible and able to work collaboratively with staff and ministry teams
- Creatively balanced with a heart for pastoral care and unity
Work Schedule
- Part-Time Paid : 10-20 hours per week
Compensation & Benefits
- Not eligible for benefits in accordance with church policy (e.g., health insurance, paid time off, sick days and holidays).
- Base pay = starting at $200 per week, but has potential to increase based on experience
Reporting Structure
- The Worship Leader reports directly to the Ministry Coordinator (Session Liaison) and collaborates closely with the Session and staff on the daily operations of the church.
